Finally got my own copy! One of the things I’m grateful for on this day of 11/11/11, as recounted in Everything Is Illuminated.

Only now do I understand the war against boredom, the lost cause of empty hours, of empty days and nights. We felt betrayed, surrendered. Beset from all sides by grayness. The wallpaper closed in on itself. The chandeliers wilted like hanging gardens. In the depth of the greyness, weeks passed.Jonathan Safran Foer, Tree of Codes (via distantheartbeats)

I don’t know how I feel about this. I liked the film version of Everything Is Illuminated because Liev Schreiber made it charmingly quirky (that field of sunflowers was gorgeous), and Elijah Wood and Eugene Hutz were great as Jonathan and Alex respectively. I guess I’ll just have to wait til the movie comes out until I pass judgment. Jonathan Safran Foer is my literature love so please let this be good.
